Motivational interviewing focuses on exploring and resolving uncertainty. It centers on motivational techniques to promote change within the individual. Motivational interviewing differs from other externally driven methods as it does not impose change or insist the someone needs to change in a certain way. Instead, it supports a client-centered change in a manner that is harmonious with the person’s own values and what they want for themselves to build the life they want.
