I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. I have a passion for helping individuals and families develop and thrive, even though the difficult times. I have a special interest in the parent-child relationship as this can be one of the most challenging relationships one encounters, but also the most satisfying. Everyone deserves someone on their side and to live their best lives. I work collaboratively with clients from a holistic, strengths and relationship based approach.
I received my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy in 2009 and received a license in Marriage and Family therapy in 2012. I started my career as a social worker working in residential, home, and community settings with children, adolescents, teens and families. This lead me to want to further my career and I developed an interest in working with people from a system approach as I had a better understanding of all the systems that impact one’s life.
In my career, I have experience working with young children 0-5, school age children, adolescents, teens, young adults, parents, families and couples. I have worked in residential setting, in-home, community, out-patient/clinic and school based therapy. In these settings, I have clinically treated clients with a wide range of challenges such as: Anxiety, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress, Relational issues, Attachment Issues, Adoption adjustment, Child Protection issues, Families reuniting, Blended family/co-parenting issues, Divorce Recovery, Infant Mental Health, Parent/Child relational issues, Gender identify, Self-Identity, Grief and Loss, Life Transitions, Child behavioral issues, School Difficulty, Parenting Issues, and Stress Management. I have a special interest in the parent-child relationship as this can be one of the most challenging relationships one encounters, but also the most satisfying.
I work collaboratively with clients to develop a plan for treatment based on the needs and approach that is comfortable for the client. Some of the approaches I use are: Strength-based, Narrative, Parent-Child Interaction therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Play therapy, Couples therapy, Child therapy, Co-parenting, Parent-Child relational therapy, Mindfulness, and Intergenerational therapy.
