ART is an evidence-based cognitive therapy that empowers clients by using visualization techniques, enhanced by the use of eye movements, similar to restorative eye movement in sleep (REM) as well as voluntary memory and image replacement. Unlike traditional talk therapies, ART does not require clients to recount their troubling memories. This can be a great relief for those who prefer not to talk about their experiences because they find them so upsetting.
Research shows that ART averages between 3 & 4 sessions. The gains made from ART were still in effect 4 months after its conclusion.
