About Robert McCauley

I believe that every person has the capacity for learning and growth, and that therapy is a great place to start changing. No matter where you are starting from, I believe that you can make real strides toward a life you find meaningful and fulfilling.

As someone who has had negative experiences with therapy myself in the past, I recognize that many people are hesitant to start or continue therapy for themselves. You are the expert of your own story, and I make it my first goal to meet you where you are in your journey. As a queer-identifing person myself, I find myself well-positioned to be accepting of all manner of sexual, gender, and romantic minorities, including but not limited to LGB, Trans, Ace, Aro, Enbie, Queer, Kinky, Poly, ENM, and many more.

My approach to therapy is one of affirming your life experiences, and helping you to conceptualize and work toward a life that is in line with your values. This often means adapting and drawing from a range of skills and methods.

For those interested in my training details: I completed my graduate training at Widener University, a highly reputed program for clinical training for sex therapy, earning concurrent degrees in Social Work and Human Sexuality. I have been practicing as a psychotherapist since my graduation in 2016, and I focus my ongoing education around better serving sexual, gender, and romantic minorities, particularly in issues around trauma and anxiety. I draw from a range of theoretical backgrounds, and regularly attend training for a wide range of modalities and updates on the science, but my baseline grounding is in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I have attended trainings on the use of Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Feminist Theory in practice, Structural Theory, and many others.

Meet the providers

Our providers are diverse and in keeping with our vision this allows for choice. We merge personal background and experience, education, creativity, and passion into a professional vision: commitment to diversity in both theory and practice. We make every effort to assign clinicians with respect to a client’s and/or family’s therapeutic and cultural needs.

Think of us as your cheerleaders on the sidelines. You've seen it, the smile, the simple nod of the head. Small gestures that say: we understand, we are listening and we are here for you. That's who we are.
