About Kerri Clawson

I believe that all people share common experiences and struggles. We all have the ability to move towards discovery and healing in our own unique way. I am passionate about helping people identify roadblocks in their life and then helping them see movement towards their life goals. I strive to help empower clients to build awareness and help them see increased possibilities.

I truly enjoy connecting and learning from my clients as we share the healing journey together. I am inspired by the strength and courage that I see from clients as they lean into this process and make change. I have practiced as a mental health therapist since 2016, and prior to that I spent time counseling employees and students. I have found that working with mental health clients is the most challenging and rewarding time I’ve spent in any pursuit.

A woman with long red hair is smiling while standing next to a tree. She is wearing a blue jacket and a yellow top. The background shows an outdoor setting with trees and foliage, embodying the serenity that Choices Psychotherapy strives to bring through its mental health services.

Everyone needs a direction, once in a while.

I work with individuals ages 12+ and couples. I have a special interest and training in behavioral therapies such as DBT: which assist clients to learn and practice tools to increase coping skills and build resilience.

I am also working on a professional certification in EFT Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. This approach was developed by Sue Johnson and Les Greenberg as a structured approach for couples. This therapy helps couples to focus on and change negative communication patterns. Couples then learn to reconnect through love for one another as an attachment bond.

Other specialties include: Mindfulness, women’s issues, parenting, blended families, life transitions, couples counseling, suicide, anxiety/depression, borderline personality disorder, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EFT for couples, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, grief, and attachment issues.

Meet the providers

Our providers are diverse and in keeping with our vision this allows for choice. We merge personal background and experience, education, creativity, and passion into a professional vision: commitment to diversity in both theory and practice. We make every effort to assign clinicians with respect to a client’s and/or family’s therapeutic and cultural needs.

Think of us as your cheerleaders on the sidelines. You've seen it, the smile, the simple nod of the head. Small gestures that say: we understand, we are listening and we are here for you. That's who we are.
