About Dr. Navin Natarajan
Dr. Natarajan brings a compassionate and integrative approach to psychiatry, shaped by a rich and diverse background. Having grown up across Canada, India, and various parts of the United States, he values cultural understanding and holistic perspectives in mental health care.
His medical education was completed at the University of the West Indies, followed by psychiatric training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn and Northwell Health – Long Island Jewish Medical Center. In addition to his general psychiatry training, Dr. Natarajan holds a specialization in geriatric psychiatry and has over 15 years of experience working across inpatient, outpatient, assisted living, and hospital consultation settings.

His practice is grounded in a patient-centered foundation, combining evidence-based treatments with a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach. He offers both medication management and psychotherapeutic support, including supportive therapy, interpersonal therapy, and mindfulness-based psychotherapy, with elements of CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy.
He believes that the most rewarding aspect of psychiatry lies in the continuity and consistency of care, helping patients progress toward their treatment goals over time. What sets Dr. Natarajan apart is his emphasis on a mindful therapeutic presence—being fully present with his patients in each moment—creating a safe space for openness, honesty, and healing.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Natarajan finds balance by spending time with his family, playing board games, biking, and traveling. He strives to foster an atmosphere of trust and safety, supporting each patient in making choices that align with their goals and overall well-being.
