Dr. Joseph Hanson

About Joseph Hanson

Dr. Joseph A. Hanson will begin seeing patients in September 2024.

Dr. Joseph A. Hanson starts every initial visit with patients by taking the time to listen carefully, understanding that each person and situation is unique. Once he fully understands the individual, he will work with them to construct a customized & holistic treatment plan to best fit their healthcare needs. Dr. Hanson does not believe in “cookie-cutter” treatment.

Dr. Hanson received his baccalaureate degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota. He attended medical school at Nova Southeastern Medical School in Fort Lauderdale, FL and completed his residency at The University Hospital and Medical Center in Tamarac, FL.

Dr. Hanson has over 7 years of experience working in the mental healthcare field and is board certified in psychiatry. He has a special interest in the field of addiction medicine and is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He has experience with utilizing Suboxone, Ketamine, TMS, ECT, and Clozaril (REMS Certified) in addition to more typical forms of medication management. He has worked in many different settings, including inpatient facilities, residential facilities, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient settings. This experience has given him a keen understanding of how all these levels of treatment and treatment modalities can be used to optimize a custom and holistic approach to his patients’ care.

Dr. Hanson was born and raised in the Twin Cities Area. In his free time, he enjoys spending it with his family and friends, listening to and writing music of all kinds, and video games when time permits.

I believe and practice Individualized care for each patient.

Everyone needs a direction, once in a while.

Meet the providers

Our providers are diverse and in keeping with our vision this allows for choice. We merge personal background and experience, education, creativity, and passion into a professional vision: commitment to diversity in both theory and practice. We make every effort to assign clinicians with respect to a client’s and/or family’s therapeutic and cultural needs.

Think of us as your cheerleaders on the sidelines. You've seen it, the smile, the simple nod of the head. Small gestures that say: we understand, we are listening and we are here for you. That's who we are.
