About Dr. Andrew Engel
I grew up in Minnesota before attending Bowdoin College, where I majored in neuroscience and completed an honors thesis on the effects of mindfulness meditation on long-term memory. I attended medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and completed my adult psychiatry residency at Dartmouth–Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. During my residency, I developed a strong appreciation for preventive medicine and the positive impact that physical exercise can have on mental health. To help make it easier and more fun for children to stay active, I created the website www.gokids.zone, a free resource designed to encourage exercise and healthy habits for kids and families.
With a particular interest in helping children and adolescents build resilience early in life, I went on to complete a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Brown University, where I served as Chief Fellow.
I am Board-Certified in Psychiatry and provide care to patients throughout Minnesota. Outside of work, I enjoy playing tennis, practicing photography, and hiking.
